Physical Description:
Contains 600g/litre triclopyr as the butoxethyl ester in the form of an emulsifiable concentrate.
Chemical Group:
Substituted pyridine.
Uses:
Eliminate is a selective herbicide used for the control of brushweeds including gorse, broom and blackberry. It's also used for controlling broadleaf weeds in turf.
Benefits:
The key benefit of Eliminate is it's safety to most grass species. At brush weed rates it is damaging to clover. Eliminate has good grass safety making it suitable for use as a spot treatment in both new and established pastures or situations where maintenance of grass cover is preferred. The product shows dramatic twisting effects on target species within a few days of application.
Brownout in gorse is very quick, 4-6 weeks on soft active growth, which extends to 8 -10 weeks when applied during periods of slower growth. A short half life in the soil will allow eventual re-establishment of clovers.
Application:
-
Rates of application vary depending on the crop and weed species present. Always read the label or refer to a Ravensdown Agrochemical Specialist 0800 100 123.
-
Best effects on gorse are achieved when applications are made to soft growth from November to May, and on blackberry to fresh green growth during summer and autumn.
-
The addition of Accelerate is necessary when plants are stressed in any way e.g. in dry conditions, Accelerate will improve the consistency of results.
-
Eliminate is suitable for application by handgun, mist blower, knapsack or by aerial application.
-
The product works best in warm healthy growing conditions.
Withholding Period:
No withholding period applies, but where poisonous plants such as Tutu or Ragwort are present stock should be kept out until those plants have died down to prevent selective grazing.
Storage & Handling:
Eliminate can be stored over a season but must be kept in a cool, dry, well ventilated area.
Environmental Fate:
Hydrolysed in soil to parent acid. Half life 6 – 52 days.
Very toxic to aquatic organisms and fish.
Rainfall:
Rain within 3 hours may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
Additional Information:
Follow up management of the treated area is important for successful scrub control. Eliminate is absorbed through the leaf and translocated to the site of activity where it prevents cell division. Sufficient leaf area is required for maximum uptake, therefore do not slash or burn prior to application of Eliminate. Do not contaminate waterways with Eliminate.
