Fumate

Physical Description:

Contains 500g/litre of ethofumesate in the form of a suspension concentrate.

Chemical Group:

Sulphonate

Uses:

Fumate is used for barley grass control in pasture and annual grass control in perennial ryegrass crops, amenity turf areas & crops as well as general weed control in redbeet. Fumate's main use is for controlling annual poa in perennial ryegrass crops. Fumate is also used to control barley grass in pasture due to its soil persistence and ability to control subsequent germinations.

Benefits:

Fumate is the best and most cost effective way of controlling poa annual in perennial ryegrass and turf crops. Fumate is also the main chemical used to control barley grass in perennial pastures due to its safety on the perennial species with minimal clover checking. Fumate is also active in the soil for up to 10 weeks after application. Fumate has the added advantage of controlling a range of broadleaf weeds and can be applied by boom spray or hand gun.  Hand gun may be the best method of application for patchy barley grass situations.

Application:

Application rates do vary from crop to crop depending on the weed spectrum present. Always read the label or refer to an Agrochemical Specialist. Never mix a surfactant of any type with Fumate as crop injury may result.

Fumate may be tank mixed with certain other post - emergence herbicides for use on redbeet - or with broadleaf herbicides for use on turf grasses. Mixtures with phenoxy herbicides such as Pasture Guard 2,4-D, Pasture Guard MCPA & Pasture Guard MCPB are not recommended as clover damage will be increased.

Environmental Fate:

Remains active in the soil to provide residual control on susceptible species for up to 10 weeks following an application.

Additional Information:

Fumate is absorbed by the emerging shoots of grass weeds and by the roots of broadleaf weeds soon after germination. Post emergence applications are taken into the plant initially by the foliage and later via the roots. Rainfall within 3 hours may reduce the effectiveness of the application. Do not graze for 28 days after application. Any crop can be sown after 5 months following an application of Fumate. However ploughing and thorough cross cultivation should precede any replanting.
