Parable

Physical Description:

Contains 200g/litre of paraquat at the dichloride salt in the form of a soluble concentrate.

Chemical Group:

Bipyridyl.

Uses:

Parable is a fast acting contact herbicide which desiccates green plant tissue. Parable's main use is in a winter spray programme over established Lucerne combined with either Atraflo, Simaflo or Terbaflo. The combination of the contact herbicide with a contact, root absorbing and residual herbicide is ideal for this situation.

Parable is also used for desiccating barley grass seed heads before maturity.

Benefits:

Parable burns and desiccates any foliage it hits rapidly and so is ideal in any situation where rapid defoliation is required. Parable is the mainstay of established lucerne spray programmes and is very compatible with triazine herbicides such as Atraflo, Simaflo & Terbaflo. It is one of the most cost effective herbicides for the control of barley grass in waste areas, stock camps and established pastures. When the developing seedhead is sprayed, Parable enters the seed coat burning the seed embryo, rendering it infertile.

Application:

As the application rates varies from crop to crop and situation to situation, it is advisable to read the label prior to use, to ensure the correct rate is applied. Parable may be used in tank mixes with most commonly used herbicides. Do not use in with slow acting herbicides such as Glyphosate 360. Use in clean water for spraying as Parable will be deactivated in dirty water. Complete coverage of the weed is essential for good results.

Withholding Period:

There is currently no listed withholding period on the New Zealand Label although stock should not be grazed for up to 5 days following an application as best practise.

Storage & Handling:

Carrier will require a Dangerous Goods License to collect this product.

Environmental Fate:

Paraquat is deactivated on contact with the soil.

Rainfall:

Parable is Rain-fast within 20 minutes of drying.

Additional Information:

Paraquat desiccates green plant tissue by a chemical light interaction on chlorophyll. It has some localised translocation under low light conditions. Its effect is rapid under high light conditions on small actively growing weeds.
