Physical Description:
Contains 385g/litre of MCPB as the sodium salt in the form of a soluble concentrate.
Chemical Group:
Phenoxy butyric.
Uses:
Safe to use over clover based pasture and cereals.
Cereals (undersown with clover and / or clover/ryegrass).
Controls a range of broadleaf weeds and thistles (refer label).
Clover crops and pasture.
Pasture Guard MCPB is used on new pastures under 12 months of age for broad spectrum broadleaf weed control but is principally used within 6 - 16 weeks of new pastures being sown, once the clovers have reached two trifoliate leaves.
Pasture Guard MCPB is also very useful over legume crops and is far more selective to clover and peas. Pasture Guard MCPB is often used in established pastures for Californian thistle and other broadleaf weeds without affecting the clover.
Benefits:
Pasture Guard MCPB is clover safe making it suitable for very young pastures containing seedling clovers. It is very effective on an wide range of broadleaf weeds in new pasture, allowing the pasture to establish in the paddock. It controls many invasive species and prevents establishment of many weeds. It is one of the very few options for cereal weed control when undersown with clovers or ryegrass / clover mixes.
Application:
At all times you should refer to the Pasture Guard MCPB label. Rates vary from weed species and whether the plant is a seedling or established plant.
Pasture Guard MCPB can be tank mixed with most commonly used herbicides and insecticides.
Withholding Period:
-
Stock: Delay grazing for 10-14 days after application to ensure the chemical has had a chance to start working. Some poisonous plants such as ragwort become sweet and more palatable after spraying and stock should graze these pastures the plants have died down.
-
Plant Back Period: Where susceptible species such as Brassica's & Clovers are to be planted, it is advised not to sow for up to 28 days following application.
Rainfall:
Rainfall within 6 hours may reduce the effectiveness of the application.
Additional Information:
The product is taken in and translocates to the roots and growing points of the plant where in susceptible plants the Pasture Guard MCPB is converted to Pasture Guard MCPA. Legume plants such as clovers and peas cannot make this conversion and therefore are not susceptible when applied at the correct growth stages. Then the mode of action is the same as for Pasture Guard MCPA.
