Benefits:

ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE is a cost-effective and convenient method of preventing and treating facial eczema, certain foot conditions and Dermatophilosis in grazing animals.

Application:

See the label for full details.

  1. Dietary Zinc Supplement - usually used at low rates, eg 0.5-1.0g/cow/day. It is usually administered through the drinking water but can be orally drenched as long as rates do not go above 1.2g/cow/day. It can be administered directly into the trough, into the supply tank or through an in-line dispenser (eg dosatron).
  2. Facial Eczema Prevention - ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE is added to the drinking water at such a rate as to deliver to the animals 5.5 grams per 100kg live-weight each day, or alternatively at a rate of 0.8g per litre drinking water. It can be administered directly into the trough, into the supply tank or through an in-line dispenser (eg dosatron).
  3. Foot-rot and scald - make up a 6.5% solution (650g ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE per 10 litres) and stand animals in this solution as required.
  4. Dermatophilosis - Animals can be dipped into the solution, or the solution applied by spraying. For prevention, make a 0.5% solution (500g ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE  per 100 litres). For treatment make a 1% solution (1kg ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE per 100 litres).

Meat and Milk withholding periods:  NIL

Compatibility:

ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE is fully soluble in water so can be administered into the drinking water through an in-line dispenser (eg dosatron) and can be mixed with any other oral nutritional animal health products except chlorides. It is not recommended that high doses (eg for facial eczema prevention) be administered by direct oral drenching due to the very high likelihood of severe stomach irritation. DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED RATES.

Please note that ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE requires slightly more agitation during dissolving than does Zinc Sulphate Heptahydrate, although once dissolved it will stay fully dissolved.

Storage & Handling:

ZINC SULPHATE MONOHYDRATE is irritant, so care should be taken to avoid contact with eyes. Store in a cool, dry covered facility, and ensure that the bag is closed properly after use.
