Dairy Hi Carb 27 - Pick & Mix Custom Blending

Physical Description:

New Zealand imports over 500,000 tonne a year of PKE, 95% of which is used in the North Island on dairy farms. It is used mainly as a supplement for milking cows for increased production or making up shortfalls in pasture supply. PKE is a great filler feed when pasture is short.

Ravensdown also offers the option of PKE blended with grain (Dairy Hi Carb 18 or Dairy Hi Carb 27) which is better for your cows and gives increased returns. In addition there is now the option of blending minerals (with or without Rumensin) into the PKE which is a very convenient way of administering these products to animals. For more information contact your Ravensdown Account Manager or the Customer Centre or view the Animal Health and Nutrition Brochure.

The following are animal health additives that can be mixed into PKE:

  • Magnesium; prevention of hypomagnesaemia (grass staggers)
  • Calcium ; prevention of hypocalcaemia (milk fever)
  • Sodium (salt); prevention of sodium deficiency
  • Triple Mix; mixture of magnesium, calcium and sodium
  • Trace elements; copper, cobalt, selenium, iodine and zinc
  • Rumensin (monensin sodium); improves the digestive efficiency (improved cow condition, increased milk production and reduced metabolic disease, ie ketosis) and reduces gas production (aids in the control of bloat)
  • Zinc oxide; for facial eczema prevention
