Physical Description:

DAP granules are odorless, 2-4mm in diameter and less dense than Superphosphate, but more dense than Urea. The colour of DAP varies from light brown to grey/black.

Uses:

The primary use for DAP is as a fertiliser to provide N (18%) and P (20%) for field crops, greenfeed brassicas, sheep, beef and dairy pasture. It can be used as an alternative source of P if soil sulphate levels are high or S is not required. It is also used in forestry where both N and P are required.

Benefits:

Cropmaster products are cost effective, provide readily available N and P and have good spreading and flow characteristics. Because all Cropmaster products contain nitrogen, correct calibration of application equipment is important.

Application:

Arable/Horticulture - Use as a planting fertiliser for field crops at 60-200kg/ha. Although at the higher rates it may be advisable to broadcast rather than drill the product. For process crops, rates can be much higher with an application rate of 150-625kg/ha depending on P requirements. For greenfeed brassicas, an application rate of 100-300kg/ha is required. It is important to avoid seed contact. If direct drilling, use lower drilling rates (<100 kg DAP/ha). If more is required, the balance should be broadcast.

Pastoral - Use as a maintenance P fertiliser with an application rate of 90-200kg/ha on sheep & beef farms or to meet some of the maintenance P requirements on a dairy farm, especially where strategic N is required.

Forestry - Use as a planting fertiliser with an application rate of 80-100 grams per tree placed into a spade slot 15cm away from the tree or for topdressing forests at 200-375kg/ha.

DAP can be mixed with a number of fertilisers, including Urea. However, DAP is not compatible with Superphosphate or Triple Super as it initially forms a slush, then goes hard. However it can be mixed if spread immediately. DAP should also not be mixed with Magnesium Oxide, as ammonia gas will be given off and the mix will turn to mush. It is also advisable not to mix DAP with lime or Maxi Super. If mixed with lime, ammonia gas may be given off and the mix may go slushy, while a mix with Maxi Super may also go slushy, but should be fine if spread immediately following mixing.

Storage & Handling:

As DAP can readily absorb moisture. Store fertiliser in a clean, dry place to avoid hardening. Also, clean drills and spreaders after use to avoid corrosion.

Source:

Cropmaster DAP is sourced from Morocco and USA.
