Dicalcic Superphosphate

NPKSMgCaOther
0.04.40.05.80.028

Physical Description:

Colour varies depending on rock type used to manufacture the superphosphate. Light pink to light grey granules.

Uses:

Dicalcic super is superphosphate which has been slurried with (normally) 50% lime. It may be used as a maintenance fertiliser as it contains P and S and will also raise soil pH. The form of P in dicalcic has been reverted from monocalcium phosphate to dicalcium phosphate and this takes longer to become fully plant available in the soil compared with superphosphate. Dicalcic alone is a safe fertiliser to drill directly with seed and will not cause germination injury at normal rates of application.

Benefits (& Special Feature):

Combines both a fertiliser source with a lime source. However, always do a cost comparison with lime and superphosphate separately (or mixed and spread immediately) as this will often be the cheaper option.

Due to the slower release nature of the P in dicalcic trial work has shown this fertiliser can be of benefit in high leaching environments such as on West Coast sands and podzols and the Wharekohe soils of Northland.

Application (& Compatibility):

Application rates should be determined by the P, S and lime requirements of individual properties. Do not apply more than 1 tonne/ha in a single application.

Mixes well with most other products such as potash, but not with urea and other N fertiliser as for superphosphate.

Storage & Handling:

May be stored over a season in cool, dry and well ventilated buildings.
