Ravensdown Nutrient Management Plans capture all the information required by farmers to efficiently and effectively manage your major nutrients to meet your farm management goals.
As well as dealing with fertiliser nutrients, those added to the soil from supplements, clover N fixation, dung and urine, farm dairy effluent, irrigation water, the atmosphere and the soil itself, are included. Equally nutrients leaving the farm in product, gaseous losses, immobilised in soil or lost in leaching are also dealt with.
By considering all these aspects of nutrient flow, Ravensdown works with you to ensure your fertiliser and farm management practices maximise the nutrient use. We also aim to maximise your financial return while mitigating the impact of nutrient losses to both water and air. We also ensure that any Regional Council or Agricultural Industry requirements, rules or regulations around nutrient management are met.
Ravensdown Nutrient Management Plans are designed to be part of, and complement, the larger Whole Farm Plans now being seen as required in many regions of the country. In order to fit into these larger plans, our Account Managers work alongside you to achieve this goal.
Content of a Nutrient Management Plan
A Nutrient Management Plan uses a number of different tools that Ravensdown offers, accompanied by commentary from one of our specially trained Account Managers.
It will include Soil and Plant Test information, with both recent results and trends over time. From the Nutrient Budget, test results and your farm goals, nutrient requirements for each management unit are determined. The Fertiliser Plan shows the products, costs and application timing required to meet the nutrient requirements.
Where the information is available it can also contain maps showing proposed fertiliser application and your testing transects.
Your updated farm details, including farm production, goals for production, environment and personal and land management information are also included.
