Track Rock has cementing properties under compaction, forming a solid, smooth and stable race surface. It is softer than blue metals, rotten rock and river gravels. Track Rock is soft and gentle on hooves, with no sharp edges. It contains calcium, essential for healthy hooves.
Uses
Track Rock is used principally for the formation of tracks and roads. Its major use is currently in dairy tracks. Other uses include all weather airstrips, silage pits, boggy water troughs, gateways and stand off pads.
Application rates and advice
For track establishment generally laid at three times the largest partical size (eg 65mm rock size lay at 200mm thickness) then compact well.
The long term life of any track or road is determined by the base it is laid on. Ensure your contractor lays your track on a good firm soil base free of wet or soft spots. Ensure a crowned finished surface to shed surface water.
Storage and handling
Does not need covering in the stock pile.
