| Barriers to effectiveness |
Barriers Resistance can develop to any anthelmintic and there are many reported cases of levamisole-resistance in sheep parasites in NZ. Check the effectiveness of anthelmintics at least annually (but preferably 3-4 times/year) by faecal egg counting 10 days after drenching, and preferably immediately pre-drenching as well. Follow current recommended parasite management practices to reduce the potential for resistance to develop. It is advisable that a drench resistance test be conducted.

Mineralised levamisole (clear) oral drench
Effective against all levamisole-susceptible roundworm and lungworm
Application
Administer orally at 1mL per 5kg live-weight
Capability and precautions
Do not exceed the stated dose, or dose more frequently than 3-weekly
Doses of three or more times those recommended can cause symptoms of levamisole toxicity, so estimate liveweights carefully. Animals under stress due to advanced pregnancy, adverse weather conditions, poor nutrition, prolonged yarding or dehydration may be more susceptible to toxicity
Fatal interactions may occur between levamisole and organophosphate dips
Do not use at the same time as any other selenised fertiliser, prill or product without consulting a veterinarian
In sheep, liver levels of copper may be quite variable. Consequently, there is always a risk of copper poisoning (deaths) occurring following copper supplementation in this species
Storage and handling
Store in the original container, tightly closed in a cool, dry and locked place away from direct sunlight. Store below 30oC (room temperature).
Shelf Life
3 years from date of manufacture.
