| Barriers to effectiveness |
Barriers Resistance can develop to any anthelmintic and there are many reported cases of levamisole-resistance in sheep parasites in NZ. Check the effectiveness of anthelmintics at least annually (but preferably 3-4 times/year) by faecal egg counting 10 days after drenching, and preferably immediately pre-drenching as well. Follow current recommended parasite management practices to reduce the potential for resistance to develop. It is advisable that a drench resistance test be conducted.
