Meat withholding

Milk withholding

Milk intended for sale for human consumption must be discarded during treatment and for not less than 35 days following the last treament.

Barriers to effectiveness
Resistance can develop to any anthelmintic and there are many reported cases of levamisole-resistance in sheep parasites in NZ. Check the effectiveness of anthelmintics at least annually (but preferably 3-4 times/year) by faecal egg counting 10 days after drenching, and preferably immediately pre-drenching as well. Follow current recommended parasite management practices to reduce the potential for resistance to develop. It is advisable that a drench resistance test be conducted.
