Application rates and usage

Application

Magnesium Chloride White Flake is very soluble in water, so is generally only administered by an oral drench or through the drinking water (via an in-line dispenser, added to the central water supply or added directly to the water trough). Dose rates are generally 60-80g/cow/day for drenching and 60-100g/cow/day for water medication. It can be added to supplementary feeds, although its unfavourable taste makes magnesium oxide a better choice for feed medication. It is totally soluble in water so is compatible with drench guns, trough dispensers and in-line dispensers.

Storage and handling

As all magnesium chlorides absorb moisture from the atmosphere store in a cool, dry covered facility, and ensure that the bag is closed properly after use. Magnesium Chloride White Flake, although harmless, can sting if applied to cuts and open sores. Wear gloves if handling product directly.
