Application

Water treatment; Administer to adult cattle through the water supply at a rate of 0.1-0.8ml per head/day. Adult sheep require 10-40ml per 1000 sheep/day.  The higher rates are required when animals are being fed on Brassica crops.

Oral drenching
; Drench ewes with 4-5ml/ewe 8 weeks and again 4 weeks pre-lamb. Drench other livestock at a dose rate recommended by your animal health adviser. For dairy cows that are drenched daily during milking, use the rates described as for water treatment above

Addition to supplementary feed
; Mix thoroughly into supplementary feed to supply adult cattle with 0.1-0.8ml per head/day, and adult sheep with 10-40ml per 1000 sheep/day, unless advised by your animal health adviser. The higher rates are required when animals are being fed on Brassica crops

Foliar application
; Spray pasture to be grazed or conserved with 1.25 litres Stock Iodine™ per hectare, up to 1-2 weeks pre-grazing. For Brassica crops that are to be grazed, spray with 2.5 litres Stock Iodine™ per hectare. A sticker such as Widespread™ can be used at 50mL per 100 litres of water.

Capability and precautions

Stock Iodine™ is water-soluble so can be mixed with most other water-soluble animal health products. However all iodine products have the tendency to leach elemental iodine as a gas or liquid, so the solution and/or the container may turn a brown colour.
