Prevention of facial eczema
Treatment and prevention of foot-rot and foot scald. Treatment and prevention of dermatophilosis (mycotic dermatitis or lumpy wool)
Use as a dietary zinc supplement
Application
Facial Eczema Prevention - Zinc Sulphate Hepta is added to the drinking water at such a rate as to deliver to the animals 8 grams per 100kg live-weight each day. It can be administered directly into the trough, into the supply tank or through an in-line dispenser.
Foot-rot and scald - make up a 10% solution (1kg Zinc Sulphate Hepta per 10 litres) and stand animals in this solution as required.
Dermatophilosis - Animals can be dipped into the solution, or the solution applied by spraying. For prevention, make a 0.75% solution (750g Zinc Sulphate Hepta per 100 litres). For treatment make a 1.5% solution (1.5kg Zinc Sulphate Hepta per 100 litres).
Dietary Zinc Supplement - usually used at low rates, eg 1-2g/cow/day. It is usually administered through the drinking water but can be orally drenched as long as rates do not go above 2g/cow/day. It can be administered directly into the trough, into the supply tank or through an in-line dispenser.
Capability and precautions
Zinc Sulphate Hepta is fully soluble in water so can be administered into the drinking water through an in-line dispenser and can be mixed with any other oral nutritional animal health products except chlorides. It is not recommended that high doses (eg for facial eczema prevention) be administered by direct oral drenching due to the very high likelihood of severe stomach irritation

Storage and handling
Irritant, so care should be taken to avoid contact with eyes. It absorbs moisture from the atmosphere so store in a cool, dry covered facility, and ensure that the bag is closed properly after use.
