When to apply eco-n North Island

What to do in May

Begin application early May when soil temperature is 15°C and falling

Apply eco-n immediately (within 7 days) after grazing; in effect follow the cows around the farm until the farm is completed.  Ensure the treated areas receive 10mm of rain or irrigation prior to the next grazing.

What to do in July

Apply eco-n mid-July to your whole farm irrespective of spring
grazing time, provided that
1. You have 10mm rain/10mm irrigation prior to the next grazing; and
2. Pasture cover is less than 3,000kgDM/ha

Based on mean soil temperature at 10cm and estimated drainage.

Eco-n needs to be applied early autumn and then again late winter by an approved applicator.

Eco-n is biodegradable so to maintain the required amount of eco-n in the soil during peak drainage periods the second application must be within 3 months of the first application.
