The scientists who developed eco-n:

Keith Cameron is Professor of Soil Science and Head of the Centre for Soil and Environmental Quality at Lincoln University. Hong Di is Professor of Soil and Environmental Science. Their combined research work has led to the development of eco-n nitrification inhibitor technology and has appeared in 20 published, peer-reviewed scientific papers.

In 2008 Professor Keith Cameron and Professor Hong Di were both appointed as Officers of the NZ Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to agricultural research.

Why was eco-n developed?

Eco-n was developed to minimise the environmental impact of dairy farming. The use of eco-n improves the nitrogen cycle which results in reduced nitrate leaching, reduced emissions of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide, reduced cation leaching and increased pasture production.
