Magnesium is supplied in the form of highly soluble kieserite
Main Potato Base provides a balanced proportion of macronutrients for the establishment of successful main crop potato production.
Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur and magnesium are all supplied in a readily available form for plant uptake.
This product was improved recently by replacing Magnesium Oxide with Kieserite, a highly soluble form of magnesium, immediately available for plant uptake.
Uses
The Main Potato Base was developed for the Pukekohe region (south of Auckland), where it is used as a base fertiliser for main crop potato production. It is typically banded in the soil at planting.
Application rates and advice
For main crop potato production in Pukekohe, this product is typically applied at rates of 1-2 tonnes/ha. In high fertility soils, it is recommended that the lower rate be used to help minimise environmental impact.
Actual spreading rates will vary according to farm type, climate, productivity, soil type and crop type. Soil testing and fertiliser plans are available to ensure you use the right product at the correct rate. Call our Customer Centre for information.
Unlike most solid fertilisers, Main Potato Base is not stable and should be applied as soon as practical after mixing at the store as has propensity to become lumpy.
